OK, I know what’s been on everyone’s mind all week: Where the heck is “The Weekly Snitch?” It’s true, I’ve been procrastinating on posting this week’s column. With all the sports I’m surrounded by currently, from high school playoffs to professional basketball and Mixed Martial Arts, how can I not have something to share an opinion about?
With 18 games left, Kings can finish on a positive note

The early success of the 2009-2010 season seems like it was ages ago. The Kings have unfortunately regressed as the year has gone on, a discouraging sign for a young team. With Tuesday’s 88-81 loss in Portland, Sacramento is now just 8-29 in its last 37 games — this coming after a 13-14 record following the miracle comeback in Chicago.

Sacramento-based fighter Joseph Benavidez knew he had a tough task at hand when it was announced he’d be fighting one of the best Mixed Martial Artists in the world in Miguel Torres at WEC 47 on March 6. Unfortunately for Torres, Benavidez didn’t care.
On to state: Local basketball teams start run at state title tonight
Now that the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs are complete, with champions crowned and runners-up looking for revenge, the 2010 CIF State Basketball Championships Presented by Farmers can begin. With an eye now on the ultimate prize, athletes gear up for the first round of the state bracket tonight.
Wrestlers battle for state championship in Bakersfield

While local basketball teams secured section championships over the weekend for a right to enter the state playoffs, local wrestlers were already there, battling for a state championship both as a team and as individuals in Bakersfield on March 6.
