Ah, Come On, Go Away!
How the heck did Boston come back to win that game tonight? Dang cockroaches won’t go away.
Being an anti-Yankee guy (and shamefully admitting to be a Mets fan), I originally liked the idea of Boston snatching the elite title… once. Now I’m getting tired of it.
How does a team lose its star player and still continue to win big games? While Manny Ramirez is trying to pick stupid fights that have nothing to do with him during games with the Dodgers, the Red Sox continue to pull victories out of the blue. It’s not fair.
Of course, if Boston went down, I’d enjoy a small satisfactory smile and forget about the rest of the postseason. The teams I want to root for aren’t even in the playoffs, but I’ll always root for anyone going against the Red Sox (or Yankees, or Braves, for that matter).
I’m like the opposite of a front-runner. I’m a back-walker, I suppose. Any dominating team is my enemy, sorry. It’s just my nature. I just can’t root for Goliath.
Some would argue the Rays are Goliath in this situation, but records and regular seasons aside, champions know how to win. This is new territory for the Rays, and like another day at work for Boston. That means more than we all may think. Essentially, it could mean everything.
If it didn’t, you tell me how a team down 7-0 in the seventh inning of the ALCS and on the verge of elimination comes back to win and keep its season alive. Nothing else makes sense.
