Announcement: I’m gonna be on TV!
I always hated it when writers used exclamation points to express excitement. A good writer can convey the same emotion with description of the surrounding scenery, whether it be the expression on the teller’s face in a quote, the atmosphere of a stadium after a game or simply the tone of a interviewee’s voice.
However, sometimes you’re just too excited to care. Sometimes, you just have to be an eager kid coming home with a fantastic report card, running through the front door screaming to your hopefully proud mother with, yes, exclamation. The fact that I’m going to be on TV tonight has done that for me.
On May 2, I traveled to Arena Softball in Roseville for a taped interview. Mike Finnerty, host of the SureWest Sports Show, brought me on as a guest. He interviews local sports writers each week on his show, and with the birth of my website came a real opportunity share my expertise via the airwaves.

The Sports Informant makes his first television appearance.
The show, which airs tonight on SureWest cable’s channel 702 at 7 p.m., can currently be seen on the SureWest Sports Show’s website. I’m on the one that currently loads, Show No. 10, the May 4 edition. I’m at the 11:35 mark, but if you’ve got the time, I suggest you watch the whole show. Who knows, you could get hooked. Mike’s doing local sports just like me, and there’s a whole lot in the area to be excited about.
This post I’m writing also introduces our new “Announcements” section of our site. From now on, events like the one this article details will be written about on the Announcements page. The page will also include upcoming events in the community that are submitted to me. So if you want the area to know what you’ve got going on, let me know and I’ll help spread the word.
Until next time, sports fans…
