While the Sacramento Kings may be struggling, sitting at 24-56 with just two games to go this season, their dance team has taken over the spotlight by advancing to a championship of their own in the NBA.

Lacky Scholarship winners announced

The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section is proud to announce $34,400 in scholarships will be awarded to the 49 winners of the A. Dale Lacky/CSEA Scholarships for outstanding athletic performance, community service and academic success during their four years of high school.

The award, honoring former Section and State CIF President, A. Dale Lacky, recognizes the top male and female student-athletes within the Section. The scholarship committee has selected four male and four female students as the recipients of a $1,000 scholarship. The remaining nominees are awarded a $600 scholarship from the Section.

Buccola of the law firm Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood, LLP, attorneys for the Sacramento Kings Limited Partnership and Maloof Sports and Entertainment today filed a product liability action in federal court arising out of the October 2009 injury incident of Francisco Garcia.

‘Here We Rise’ showcases Kings

Tonight marks the debut of a four-part series of Sacramento Kings “Here We Rise” season preview shows airing through Oct. 27 on Comcast SportsNet California (CSNCA).

Each of the four 30-minute “Here We Rise” shows is hosted by Jerry Reynolds and Grant Napear, with exclusive interviews conducted by Jason Ross.

The first show, which airs tonight, takes a close look at the upcoming 2010-11 Kings season and features an interview with Coach Paul Westphal.

The second show, also debuting tonight, takes a look back at the brilliant Rookie of the Year season of Tyreke Evans and includes an interview with the team’s returning leading scorer who became just the fourth player in NBA history to average at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists in a rookie campaign.

The third show in the series debuts on Wednesday, as Kings TV followed forward Carl Landry to his hometown of Milwaukee, Wis., for an exclusive feature and interview.

Lastly, Thursday marks the first run of a show focused on Kings rookie sensation DeMarcus Cousins, as Kings TV followed the fifth-overall pick in the 2010 Draft to his hometown of Mobile, Ala., for a behind-the-scenes feature and interview.

River Cats back home

The Sacramento River Cats returned to Raley Field on July 27 after a two-week road stint. As the team gains ground in search of another PCL title, there are ample opportunities for fans to enjoy exciting promotions for the July 27-August 3 homestand as the Cats take on the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Triple-A Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) July 27-30 and the Las Vegas 51s (Triple-A Affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) July 31-August 3. Promotions slated for the upcoming homestand include: Greek Night (July 29), River Cats Go to Hollywood (July 30), Players’ Wives’ Food Drive (August 1), Sacramento Baseball History Night (August 2) and Do You Believe in Magic Night (August 3).

SureWest Sports Show names athletes and coaches of the year

SureWest Communications announced the second annual SureWest Sports Show Athletes and Coaches of the Year award winners. Winners selected for the 2009-10 season were:
