Tyreke Evans joins Robertson, Jordan, James in history
Sacramento Kings rookie guard Tyreke Evans joined Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James as the only players in NBA history to average 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game in their rookie seasons. Evans entered last night’s contest against the Houston Rockets needing 24 points and accomplished the feat with two made free throws with 6:46 left in the fourth quarter.
Kings guard Udrih wins Oscar Robertson Triple-Double Award
In honor of one of the NBA’s all-time greats, the Sacramento Kings continue to honor the legacy of Oscar Robertson, both on and off the court, by awarding the 2009-10 Oscar Robertson Triple-Double Award to Beno Udrih.
Every season, the Oscar Robertson Triple-Double Award winner is selected by a panel of local sports media and presented to the deserving Kings player who exemplifies certain characteristics both on and off the court. The triple signifies on the court accomplishments: He is a team leader, embodies the spirit of sportsmanship and plays an outstanding all-around game. The double signifies off the court leadership by showing commitment to community service and family.
U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame expanding before arrival in Davis
The U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame has joined forces with the California Bicycle Museum and expanded the board of directors to include the board members of both organizations.
Sac-Joaquin Section announces Lacky Scholarship Awards winners
The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section announced $34,000 in scholarships will be awarded to the 50 winners of the A. Dale Lacky Scholarships for outstanding athletic performance, community service and academic success during their four years of high school.
Sacramento will host Tour of California Team Presentation and Gala
The Sacramento Sports Commission, the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau and AEG will host the Official Team Presentation and Gala for the 2010 Amgen Tour of California on Friday, May 14, at Sacramento’s Memorial Auditorium. The annual pre-race event is a favorite among fans and cyclists alike and has sold out in each of the four previous years.
