After fantastic seasons, the pinnacle of high school football is upon us. Section champions have been crowned, but starting tonight, teams will be battling for California state championships in several divisions. It doesn’t get any bigger than this.

Growing up in Central Washington, I was a three-hour drive from any major city. A huge sports fan, that also meant I was a three-hour drive from any major sports team, too. Without the ability to drive myself to games before age 16, or keep a close tie to our “local” teams, and with the growth of network television and the Internet, I learned to follow and love teams from across the country in every sport.
