With the Super Bowl coming up, football’s on the mind, at least for another week, so it’s natural that this week’s column would be geared around the sport. Unfortunately, not all went as I’d hoped, as it took amateurs to impress me on the field while the pros just left me disappointed.
The Sacramento Kings are back on the track to the league cellar, with one of the worst months imaginable. But there was a silver lining in Sacramento sports last week. I wrote a full column about Austin Collie’s efforts Sunday helping the Indianapolis Colts reach the Super Bowl, but he deserves mention in The Weekly Snitch, too.
Fighting, bull riding and basketball dominated the sports scene in Sacramento recently. A mixture of the three in a Northern California city proved quite interesting.
Sometimes, I forget it’s a new year. As I continue to write 2009 every time I list a date on something, I fail to realize that the dawn of many new things is upon us, and if we look closely, some of them are pretty spectacular. From another great MMA show in Sacramento, to the NFL and high school sports, there’s plenty that went on last week.
It’s the dawn of a new year. Hopefully that brings change, because 2009 was not all that good to me.
