El Dorado Hills native catches first NFL touchdown
El Dorado Hills native and Oak Ridge High School grad Austin Collie caught his first career NFL touchdown today, extending both arms with a diving catch in the back of the end zone to put the Indianapolis Colts up 21-3 at the half against the Seattle Seahawks.
Collie, just waiting for an opportunity break out in his rookie season with the Colts, caught the 21-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Peyton Manning with only nine seconds left in the half. At halftime, Collie had three catches for 36 yards in the game.
Collie, who led the nation in receiving at BYU last season, was drafted by the Colts in the fourth round. The 6-foot, 206-pound wide receiver was the 27th pick of the fourth round and the 127th overall selection in this year’s draft. He was the 19th receiver selected.
