Kings Dance Team in NBA.com championship today

While the Sacramento Kings may be struggling, sitting at 24-56 with just two games to go this season, their dance team has taken over the spotlight by advancing to a championship of their own in the NBA.

The Sacramento Kings Dance Team advanced to the NBA.com Dance Team Contest Championship recently, and fans were invited to vote for the 2011 NBA.com Dance Team Contest Western Conference Champion Sacramento Kings Dance Team as itfaced the Eastern Conference Champion Lady Cats in the Dance Team Contest Championship. Voting was open until Monday, April 11 at 11 a.m.

Fans were able to vote for the Sacramento Kings Dance Team by visiting Kings.com, and results will be posted shortly about how the team did.

It would be a welcomed victory for Sacramento, which doesn’t see many in the NBA since the WNBA team, the Sacramento Monarchs, was dissolved. With a possible move to Anaheim looming for the Kings after the season, the city of Sacramento needs every little victory it can get.

The Sacramento Kings Dance Team advanced to the Dance Team Contest Championship by defeating the Rockets Power Dancers in the first round, Suns Dancers in the second round, Mavs Dancers in the third round and Warrior Girls in the Western Conference Championship.

For those who have attended Kings games and followed the news surrounding Kings dancers and “scandals” in the past, there’s no question why the dance team is popular. Hopefully that popularity can carry the team just a bit farther, for Sacramento’s sake.
