Kings prepping for NBA Draft Lottery

With just less than a week until the NBA Draft Lottery, anticipation in Sacramento is building.

The lottery will take place at 4:30 p.m. on  May 18 in New Jersey. The Kings are guaranteed a top six selection. While the optimist will point out that the Kings have an over 45 percent chance of landing a pick in the top three, the glass-half-empty fan will recognize the more than 50 percent chance the Kings have of landing between four and six.

Last year, the Kings sent franchise great Chris Webber to New Jersey in hopes of drumming up some extra luck. The Kings held a 25 percent chance of winning the number one pick and were in desperate need of a franchise savior.

But the outcome of the 2009 lottery, with Sacramento in the fourth slot, left Kings fans demoralized. Luckily, Geoff Petrie salvaged what could have been a negative situation, grabbing Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans with that pick.

This year, it is Evans who will represent the Kings at the lottery. After feeling burned last year, Kings fans are hoping they are rewarded for another losing season.

“Hopefully we can get a good pick, number one,” Evans told Kings.com. “We’ll just have to see what happens when I get there.”

The Kings are bracing for good news, planning a lottery viewing party in Downtown Sacramento. The event, deemed the “NBA’s GREATEST Draft Lottery Party,” kicks off at 4 p.m. on lottery night and is free for the public.

The Kings have the third best chance of securing the top overall pick. They will find solace in the fact that over the past five years, the team with the highest odds has not landed the top selection. Only four times since the inception of the lottery system in 1985 has the team that finished with the worst record been awarded the number one pick. This gives the Kings, who hold a 15.6 percent chance of grabbing number one, some hope.

The Kings last won the lottery in 1989, when they had the sixth best odds. However, they squandered the pick, choosing Pervis Ellison out of Louisville. Ellison played in just 34 games with the Kings as a rookie before being traded to Washington.

The 2010 NBA Draft is on June 26 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Thanks for the strategies pretnesed. One thing I additionally believe is the fact credit cards offering a 0% rate of interest often appeal to consumers in with zero rate, instant endorsement and easy over-the-internet balance transfers, nonetheless beware of the most recognized factor that is going to void your current 0% easy streets annual percentage rate and also throw you out into the poor house rapid.
