Making Changes
If you’re a loyal follower of The Sacramento Union, you’ve noticed that we’re making some changes. If you’re not, you should be.
We’ve launched a conerted effort to upgrade our Web site at www.SacUnion.com. Although The Union is a weekly newspaper, we believe we can best inform our readers using both our newspaper and a consistently updated Web site, offering both up-to-date news online and in-depth thought in print for our readers to enjoy.
Our biggest move yet came two weeks ago as we hired a full-time sports writer in Josh Terrell. While he’s recently added twin baby girls to his family at home, we were just as excited to add him to our family, creating a two-headed monster in the sports section now along with me. Together, we’re going to spearhead a search for the best sports stories in Sacramento, and hopefully, bring you a sports section we can be proud of, and our readers can look forward to reading.
Currently, Josh is immersed with the Sacramento Kings, attending practices and games several times a week to really get a feel for mechanics of the machine. We’ve doubled our Kings coverage in the newspaper, and Josh is even dedicating extra time to write a blog of his own several times a week specifically on the local pro franchise (read it at www.SacUnion.com/KingsBlog).
I, on the other hand, now have the help I need to open my eyes. While I’ve been working hard for nearly a year to build The Sporting Gold from scratch, I’ve been so focused on the quality of our print newspaper that I haven’t had a chance to spread my wings. Josh gives me that chance, and boy am I ready to fly.
So stay tuned, Sacramento. With the changes we’re making, we’ve got an opportunity to do something special here. Please join us.
