The Sac-Joaquin Section held its high school Masters Wrestling Championships Feb. 26-27, with a shot at a state championship tournament berth on the line.

Local wrestlers competed and the top eight finishers placed at the Masters tourney. Only the top seven, however, advanced to state.

Vacaville secured the top team score with 171 points, finishing with two first place wrestlers, one second, two fourth and one seventh. Elk Grove was second overall (146) with one first place finisher, two second, one fourth and one fifth. Oakdale was third (137) with one first place finisher, two second, two third and one sixth.

Wrestlers who qualified will travel to the boys state championships at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield March 5-6 for a shot at the coveted state title.
