throwing out the ceremonial first pitch of the Stockton Ports game on May 8. He’ll get some time to rest his arm before returning to the mound on May 26 to throw out the first pitch at the Oakland A’s game at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
“I’m excited to throw out the first pitch at the A’s game,” Faber, who boasts a professional record of 22-2 and is considered one of the most dominant 145-pound fighters of all-time, said in a release by the WEC. “They are a great organization and I’m looking forward to stepping foot on the mound at the Coliseum.”
The A’s will be hosting the Seattle Mariners that night at 6:55 p.m. Faber will have at least two MMA fans in attendance, as Athletics Dallas Braden and Travis Buck have been said to enjoy the fight game. Both spent time with Oakland’s Triple-A affiliate the Sacramento River Cats, watching the local fighter Faber rise to the top of his class.
Before “The California Kid” stops in Oakland, he’ll toss the first pitch in Stockton May 8 at 7:05 p.m. as the reigning California League champion Stockton Ports take on the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. The Ports are the Class A Advanced affiliate of the Oakland A’s.
“I’m excited to throw out the first pitch at the Ports game,” Faber said. “They are a championship team and I’m looking to get my belt back, so it’s only fitting that I take the mound there.”
As if seeing Faber pitch wasn’t incentive enough, a special fireworks presentation will follow the game.
