Vista del Lago riding seniors to hopeful section title

Just over three years ago, Vista del Lago High School was in construction phase, buildings without a student body or sports team to boast. Now, with its first senior class ever, the school is competing for a Sac-Joaquin Section title in boys basketball, after one of the most impressive regular seasons in the state.
Kings edge Rockets, Martin, with Landry’s help

This game was not pretty. The Kings shot a frigid, season-low 32 percent from the floor, as a handful of players posted atrocious shooting lines. But one thing was evident. The Kings learned from their mistakes the previous night – Sacramento hit the boards hard. As a result, they had more rebounds in the first half against Houston than they did all game in Oklahoma City. The rebounding effort made up for the lousy shooting, helping the Kings to 23 more shots than Houston. Sacramento held on for a nail-biting 84-81 win against the Rockets.

Masters Championships sends local wrestlers to state
The Sac-Joaquin Section held its high school Masters Wrestling Championships Feb. 26-27, with a shot at a state championship tournament berth on the line.
