High School Basketball Rivalries
High school rivalries are great. I sat in on the Oak Ridge-Ponderosa High rivalry last night at Ponderosa, as the Bruins defended their home court with an impressive, and surprisingly dominant, win, 45-33.
BCS Bust
The story’s been told a hundred times. The BCS screws up the national title in college football every year, and with three legitimate teams vying for it this week in Texas, Oklahoma and Florida, this year is no different.
Senior Frenzy
It was a 41-0 drubbing not really indicative of high school football “competition,” but the 2008 KCRA 3 Holiday Classic all-star football game showcased the Sacramento area’s top seniors in a last hurrah at Grant High School on Dec. 27.
Merry Christmas
There are 20 minutes left on Christmas day, and it’s been quite an eventful one. While I envied my family in Washington for celebrating a Christmas without me in a foot of snow, while we in California hid inside from a torrential downpour of rain and hail, I still enjoyed the little things about the day that I usually take for granted.
A Real Reality Show
I recently watched the “Ultimate Fighter Finale” on SpikeTV, which featured Philipino Phillipe Nover versus Mexican Efrain Escudero in the lightweight final. Nover, the clear cut favorite coming out of the reality show’s taped season, lost a unanimous decision to Escudero, who came in with a great game plan and stole a victory.
