SureWest Sports Show names athletes and coaches of the year
SureWest Communications announced the second annual SureWest Sports Show Athletes and Coaches of the Year award winners. Winners selected for the 2009-10 season were:
Katie Simon (Roseville): SureWest Sports Show Female Athlete of the Year
Lefi Letuligasenoa (Elk Grove): SureWest Sports Show Male Athlete of the Year
Greg Benzel (Rocklin): SureWest Sports Show Boys Athletics Coach of the Year
Steve White (Oak Ridge): SureWest Sports Show Girls Athletics Coach of the Year
Highlights and interviews with the winners will air on the June 16, 2010 episode of the SureWest Sports Show, a weekly 30-minute youth and high school sports program that can be viewed on SureWest channel 702 and online at surewestsports.com. Airing on TV every Wednesday at 7 p.m. with replays throughout the week, the SureWest Sports Show is the only Sacramento area show to feature both youth and high school sports, and consists of scores, highlights and interviews from games around the region. Luck continued to elude the Kings at Tuesday’s NBA Draft Lottery, as Sacramento landed the fifth pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.
Stage 2 start in Davis gives local fans a last look at riders
While the show has left Sacramento, the race continues, leaving the 100,000 fans who witnessed Stage 1 curious about which cyclist will take the crown in this year’s Amgen Tour of California. With a Stage 2 start in Davis, local fans got one last chance to see the riders compete before they were off to Santa Rosa.
100,000 view Sacramento finish of Amgen’s Stage 1
The Sacramento Sports Commission, after consulting with the Sacramento Police Department, estimated Sunday’s crowd for the first stage finish of the Amgen Tour of California was 100,000. That number is based on aerial shots in comparison to last year (estimated 75,000-80,000) and the fact that it includes the Folsom Blvd. stretch from Jackson Road into downtown.
